About Virginia Head Start

We welcome Chris Austin, staff representative from the Southwest Region, as our new President. He replaces Kathy Massie who has led the Association admirably through a time of transition; she will remain on the Board for one year as ex-officio member to assist the Board and the new President. Chris is a management team member from Kids Central, Inc. in Norton, Virginia. He served as vice-president of the Board last year. Selena Childress, director of TAP Head Start, representing the Northwest Region, will fill his spot as vice-president. Karen Gilliam, parent representative from Southeast (Henrico County program), will replace Liz Speake as secretary; Liz was the former staff representative of the Southeast Region (Bridges Head Start). Fay Butcher, Northwest staff representative (Skyline program), will continue as treasurer.
